CHS 1 Hike - Wallace Falls

Woody Trail to Lower, Middle, and Upper Wallace Falls/Falls trail. Road walk to Wallace Lake, returning via Greg Ball trail then crossover back to Woody Trail for final mile.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • Extensive logging on about 1.5 miles of the upper road leading to Wallace Lake makes the road walk section--which previously was moderately attractive--unlovely but not more difficult. Weekday hikers might find that this section is closed to hikers preventing the loop trip that can still be done most weekend days; check with Wallace Falls State Park for updates. The last 1/2 mile before the lake has several streams running across the road: expect wet feet until later in the season or until the Park/DNR (whoever manages this section) puts in culverts or better drainage.

Very wet, cool day, finally drying out and warming up a little  the last mile to the car. Saw several salmonberry bushes in bloom, and one small patch of bleeding hearts. All other flowers are apparently sulking and wondering whether spring weather will ever arrive.
