CHS 1 Hike - Rattlesnake Mountain (West)

Distance is unclear. Trailhead sign said 1.9 miles to Stan's Overlook. Older Green Trails map said 2.5 miles, newer version said 2.6. Various GPS results were 2.0, 2.5, and 3.0, so take your pick--although net elevation gain was consistently reported as close to 1100 feet.

Salmonberry and wild currant were in bloom. The currant bushes, especially in the middle half of the hike, gave a rose-pink glow to whole areas. Lots of low-growing yellow violets (viola sempervirens?) along sides of trail, and a few trilliums (still bright white, which means they have just bloomed as the flowers turn to pink and then purple as they age).
