CHS 1 Hike - Lake 22

A successful hike to Lake 22 despite compact snow on the trail.

  • The trail reflected the fact that there was a lot of snow in the mountains this winter.  There was copious amounts of running water in the streams as well as on the trail.   The last mile of the hike was compact snow.  In addition, there were a few blowdowns and stream crossings.  Despite all of this, their were many people on the trail and the parking lot was full when we returned at 1pm.  Views of the frozen lake and avalanches across it were magical.

Completed Lake 22 today despite the many early Spring challenges.  The group was eager and able to make it to the lake even though it was raining.  The clouds parted while we were snacking at the lake to show gorgeous views of avalanches across the way.  A wonderful day!
