A half day classroom session on chainsaw safety, PPE, and practices, followed by a half day of field practice.

Typical forest road, with a few larger ruts while ascending the last mile to the lodge.
The forest roads are in good shape and the recent rains meant no dust. It rained in the morning while we were inside Meany Lodge doing the classroom session. The rain stopped by lunch and we spent the afternoon outside in 4 teams with one instructor each. Each group practiced the OHLEC steps, developed our cutting plans, and then implemented the plans. After a few hours of practice with chainsaws, the attention shifted to crosscut and cleanup.
