Blanca Lake

A great day out with partly sunny skies

  • The snow line was at 4000 feet.  At 4600 the snow was approximately 12 inches deep.  2 inches of fresh powder over 10 inches with a breakable crust.  The trail had already seen enough activity that we did not need to use our snow shoes or micro spikes.

The road is open.  A lot of potholes but accessible to all vehicles.   The bathroom at the trail head was locked. 

We arrived at 8:45am to a parking lot with 3 other cars.  The snow line was at 4000 feet.  At 4600 the snow was approximately 12 inches deep.  2 inches of fresh powder over 10 inches with a breakable crust.  The trail had already seen enough activity that we did not need to use our snow shoes or micro spikes.   We got to the lake around 11:45, had a snack, but the party was getting cold.  The temperate at noon was just above 30 degrees.  We left at 12:15 and we were back at the cars by 1:45 or so.  The parking lot had 13 cars at this point.
