The road is packed snow. Someone with microspikes could hike it. Right now the snow has a hard crust just a few inches down that made practicing plunge steps a little slippery.
This was a basic snowshoe field trip. We had a great time. The road to the pass was bare all the way. We had blue skies and enough snow to practice.
