Basic Snowshoeing Field Trip - Commonwealth Basin

Great day out learning to snowshoe at commonwealth basin.

  • Snow and ice on road
  • Fresh snow in the parking lot and on the trail. It made learning how to snowshoe fun. There was enough fresh snow, that some trails were covered over, so it gave us an opportunity to blaze a few of our own.

Meet up was at Tibbetts park and ride. Carpooled to the pass. Conditions were pretty clear almost all the way to the summet. Light snow right at the top where the West exit is. The parking lot had snow on it and there were ample spots available at 7 am.  Meet and greet out of the way the activities began. Took our time heading to lunch counter, going over various topics of the course. Lunch was a little after noon, and we shared some awesome hot chocolate. ( Thanks Russ!) We had a chance to plunge step on the way back down the mountain, thanks to some great fresh snow! Back at our cars for a debrief and some laughs around 3pm.
