Trip Report

Basic Snowshoe - Wenatchee Crest

A great day in the snow with a terrific group of snowshoers.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • The road was icy in the beginning, some preferred microspikes initially. The snow was compact, but soft enough to kick steps.

Per the Cle Elum Ranger District: they are no longer grooming and Sno-park passes are not being enforced. Not all signs have been removed, but you will not be ticketed.

We had a great day. The weather was better than forecast. No precipitaiton, the skies were gray, but we could see the surrounding peaks. On the way in we twice ascended the ridge for the views to the south and also because it is more fun than staying on the road. The group was just great. We kick stepped up  and slid down. Participants helped each other out. We had lunch with a view.
