Basic Snowshoe - Skyline Ridge & Tye Peak

Snowy trip. Issues with parking at steven's pass resort.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • There was plenty of snow, and it snowed consistently while on route.  NWAC had reported some instability several days prior, but we did not see evidence of that. Just to be sure, we stuck to the main road most of the time and  turned around after a quick snack at skyline lake.

This was a trip to brush off the cobwebs and figure out you hadn't replaced a lost snow basket at the end of last season. Yep, that was me but luckily I discovered the issue early enough to ask one of the participants to bring an extra pole. We saw a few skiers, a few folks on snowshoes, and although it was snowing and a foggy, everyone seemed happy to get out!

One of our participants was told by a Steven's pass employee that all resort parking was for employees only (preseason, lots of snow plowing going on, uphill travel at the resort not permitted), so she was turned away and headed home. Others did not have that experience.

We could hear the blasting over at cowboy mountain in the morning.
