Originally scheduled to do kangaroo temple on Saturday, but changed plans to the tooth due to weather. Great trip, completed in 10 hours. Left Alpental at 6:15, made it to the summit around noon. Ended up sharing the route with three private groups, a total of 11 on the climb, including us. The summer approach was clear, a little bushwacking and talus hopping. There are a couple of very thin snow bridges over streams that probably won't last until next weekend. There was snow cover as we started up the gully. We didn't need crampons, but it was good having an ice axe. The snow went almost up to the pass. On the way up, we followed it to the top and then used our ice axes to lower about five feet to the ground. On the way, we scrambled and booty scooted down the wide moat to the snow. Beautiful clear day, blue sky, no wind, great company.
