Backpack - Lower Lena Lake
Great trip for the beginning backpacker. Easy, gradual accent to lake with bathrooms available near well maintained campgrounds. Good sized fire pits available for building community and smores!

Trail is in great condition thanks to tree mitigation by WTA.
Only 1.5 hours from Tacoma area, road is paved all the way to TH and in great condition. Easy parking ONLY because we went on a Thursday. By the time we exited on Friday around noon there were dozens of cars and more on the way. Apparently there were over 200 vehicles the previous Saturday, so go during the week if you can!
No permits required and campsites are in amazing condition. Elevation gain is very gradual, quite doable for the beginning hiker even with a pack. About 3 hours to Lower Lena Lake (very conservative pace) and 2 hours back. Absolutely perfect experience for the beginning backpacker!
