Alpine Scramble - Grindstone Mountain

Fun, true scramble: starts on nice trail with significant off trail heather, rock slope traverse and boulder gully terrain.

  • Web trip reports are both helpful and misleading. Mountaineer's route description significantly aided social media route description concerning which gully-slope to ascend after cross over ridge, descending then traversing slope to ascent location.

Nice small sign so easy to find TH parking lot.

Trail is few miles of great warm up starting gentle and going steeper on mostly dirt.

Remember that Grindstone is the not obvious roundish dome (middle of entire ridge)  and not the seemingly taller, dramatic class 4, blackish rock ramp peak further right/west as you look up the slope.
