Alpine Scramble - Bean Peak & Volcanic Neck

Successful trip with a great group!

  • Road suitable for all vehicles

Our group was primarily comprised of 2016 Seattle Scramble students  along with a couple of other experienced scramblers.   It was a great group and we had weather to match.  After a little too fast of a start (everyone was understandably excited) we settled into a sustainable pace into the Bean Creek Basin.  From there we took a slight detour from the standard route up Bean to take advantage of the awesome rock scrambling that is directly below Bean.  Everyone was definitely jazzed after that.

A short scramble around to the north side of VN then up the route had us enjoying the 360 views and perfect weather.  Everyone on the team was very comfortable with rock scrambling (the route up Bean was a great confidence builder) so there were big smiles all around for the summit pics.

We came back more or less the same we came but exited Bean Peak on the right side (easier) before traversing down and to the left into the basin.
