Tolmie State Park

Located on the Nisqually Reach north of Olympia, this dog-friendly park contains several interconnecting trails that wind through cedar groves, down a ravine, along a bluff with views of Puget Sound, and to the Nisqually Reach spit where you can walk on the beach. The park is CLOSED on Mondays and Tuesdays.

GETTING THERE

Take Exit 111 off of I-5.  Drive north on Marvin Rd for 3.6 miles.  Turn right onto 56th Ave NE and continue 0.5 miles, bearing left onto Hill St NE.  Continue for 0.4 miles and turn left onto 61st Ave NE and into Tolmie State Park.  Continue 0.4 mile to the second parking area.

ON THE TRAIL

The park trails include the Four Cedars Trail that makes a loop of the upland areas, Twin Creek Trail that is a shortcut to the Four Cedars Trail, and Sandy Beach Trail that goes to the shore.  The trails pass through ravines, over boardwalks and along a bluff.

Information for Leaders

The Mountaineers has a commercial use permit with Washington State Parks for all free and fee-based outings at state parks. Leaders should carry a print or digital copy of our  commercial use permit to show rangers they may encounter.
