Spinnaker & Martin Peaks

A snowshoe or winter scramble into the Henry M. Jackson Wilderness near Stevens Pass depending on the final destination. From the summit of wither of these peaks, enjoy views of Mount Rainier, Glacier Peak, Mount Stuart, Mount Daniel, Rock Mountain, and Mount Howard.

getting there

Drive SR-2 to 1.7 miles  east of Stevens Pass.  The Yodelin parking area, a Stevens Pass Ski Area parking lot, in on the right.

approach & ascent

Cross SR-2 and follow the road north as it parallels Stevens Creek and then west as it follows Nason Creek, passing private residences along the way. Continue ascending the Nason Creek Valley to the saddle between Tye Peak (5,476 ft) and Point 5261. Ascend to the col between Point 5261 and Spinnaker Peak (5,645 ft) and then the east ridge of Spinnaker Peak. Descend to the col between Spinnaker and Martin Peaks and the ascend Martin Peak (5,627 ft).

notes

  • This route crosses two two streams. Be careful when crossing, because the streams often are run even during winter.
  • It's possible to ascend to the summit of Point 5261 and follow the ridge to Spinnaker Peak The ridge is narrow with steep  descents  into a few cols, making for a more challenging trip.
