Pacific Crest Trail: White Pass to Bridge of the Gods

Hike Section H of the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) in southern Washington. The journey starts at White Pass climbing straight up into the Goat Rocks Wilderness Areas, to Indian Heaven, through the Wind River Experimental Forest, and finishing with a walk across the Bridge of the Gods over the Columbia River Gorge. It's a challenging backpacking trip of nearly 148 miles and 28,000 feet of elevation gain.

Getting There

White Pass

Drive to the White Pass Campground and Pacific Crest Trail Trailhead (4,400 ft) on SR-12, 20 miles east of Packwood and 50 miles west of Yakima.

Bridge of the Gods

From the Puget Sound area, head south on I-5 for 147 miles to I-205S toward Salem.  Take I-205 to Exit 22 for US-184 East toward The Dalles. Go 34 miles to Exit 44 for US-30 East toward Cascade Locks/Stevenson and drive a half mile to Bridge of the Gods.

  • Day 3 - Walput Lake to Burnt Rock, 22.7 miles
  • Day 4 - Burnt Rock to Wood Lake, 27.4 miles
  • Day 5 - Wood Lake to Gobblers Knob, 22.4  miles
  • Day 6 - Gobblers Knob to Rock Creek Pass, 22.9 miles
  • Day 7 - Rock Creek Pass to Bridge of the Gods Trailhead, 15.8 miles
