Grass Mountain
Hike or snowshoe trip to a treeless peak with great views just off of Start Route 410 near the town of Greenwater.
Getting There
Winter
Drive SR-410 to the curve 0.25 mile west of Greenwater and turn left (north) onto Slippery Creek Road (Forest Road 7125). Drive it as far as conditions permit.
Summer
Drive SR-410 to the curve 0.25 mile west of Greenwater and turn left (north) onto Slippery Creek Road (Forest Road 7125) for 0.2 mile to spur road on right. Drive this road for 1.0 mile to the Christoff Trailhead (2,000 ft). There is parking for four cars on the road's shoulder at the trailhead.
On the Trail
Hike the Christoff Trail (No. 1171) for 3.3 miles and turn left onto the Grass Mountain Trail (No. 1170) or right onto the Divide Trail (No. 1172) toward Bone Lake. The summit of Grass Mountain had no trees. Enjoy continuous views on the hike to and on the summit.
Snowshoe Route
At the switchback at 2,100 ft take the gated road continuing straight as it winds its way up and west, cutting switchbacks as feasible to the its end at ~3,900 ft. Continue along the northwest-trending ridge to the summit.
