Canyon Arizona’s Aquatic Canyons

The Mountains in Arizona offer a unique combination of aquatic environments in a desert landscape. Canyoneers in the desert southwest flock to these canyons in the spring to experience some of the only aquatic canyons available in their region. For PNW canyoneers who are used to an aquatic environment, these canyons offer a special experience descending through improbable aquatic gems hidden among the cacti.

Spring is a special time in the Arizona wilderness, when runoff from winter snows transform Arizona’s typically dry desert canyons into an aquatic wonderland with beautiful waterfalls on a backdrop of red, orange, and white sculpted sandstone canyons. Learn more about these canyons, most of which are beginner-friendly.
