Fudge Point State Park

A new state park on Harstine Island in Mason County near Olympia. The property was purchased by State Parks, Trust for Public Land and Washington Wildlife and Recreation coalition. The park is currently underdeveloped but open to the public. The plan is to keep the shoreline intact and add a few new trails.

GETTING THERE

Take Exit 104 off of I-5 onto US 101.  Veer north at the intersection of US 101 and SR 8.  Take the Olympic Highway (SR 3 exit) towards Shelton. Follow State Route 3 east 11 miles, passing through downtown Shelton. Turn right onto E Pickering Rd. Follow E Pickering Rd for 3.3 miles then bear left onto Harstine Island Bridge Rd. Drive over the bridge and come to a "T" junction at 0.6 miles.  Turn right on E South Island Dr and continue for 3.3 miles to a junction. Turn left onto E Harstine Island Rd N for 0.2 mile. Turn right on E Ballow Rd and drive 0.8 mile to where the road makes a sharp bend left. Park here and be sure to NOT block driveways or the access road.

ON THE TRAIL

Walk on a gated road that immediately turns south and skirts a recent clear cut.  In 0.4 miles it makes a 90 degree turn left.  Continue walking for 0.8 miles until coming to a 4-way road junction. Take the road on the left and look for the State Park land sign. At 1.5 mile you will reach the beach.  Turn north to round fudge point. Turning south leads down to Case Inlet.
