Urban Adventure - The Arboretum, Interlaken Park & Volunteer Park

One way hike between Westlake and UW Link Stations via Capitol Hill, Belmont-Harvard Historic District, and Volunteer, Interlaken and the Arboretum Parks. We will return by Light Rail.

  • Mileage: 8.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 500 ft
  • Pace: 2-2.5 MPH

10 AM  Westlake Park--Dowtown at the entrance to the Nordstrom Rack at Northwest Quardrant of 5th Ave. and Pine St.

We will proceed up Pine St. to Broadway/Cal Anderson Park, then North on Broadway to Roy, then up Havard or Boylston to St. Marks Catherdral.  Next Volunteer, Interlaken Parks, over to the Arboretum, exiting North via the Marsh island/Foster Island trail.  We will finally cross over the Montlake bridge to the UW-station and take the Light Rail back downtown.  We will stop at Volunteer Park for lunch.  Bring  $2.50 for the train back or your ORCA card.  Bring shoes that can deal with the winter mud on the Foster Island trail. Bring rain protection if showers are forecasted. If you need to access this trip via your car, one option would be to drive to the UW Station and pay to park in the adjacient UW/UW Hospital lot next to the station and then take Link Light Rail Downtown before the trip and then walk back.  For most people, there should multiple ways to get to Westlake via Public Transport that doesn't involved driving.  I'll be taking the C-Bus from West Seattle.  This is a weather dependent trip.  Doesn't need to be perfect, but all day rain will be a cancel.  Rob
