Top Rope Rock Climb - Exit 38

A practice of multi-pitch climbing for students in the Motteler SIG who are registered for the SEWS climb of June 21st. If spots are unfilled, others may request permission after June 1st.

4 pm at Farside parking area ready to go. Discover Pass required. A detailed email with be sent to registered participants two days before the climb.

This is a practice session on real rock for registered participants (and waitlisted participants) in the SEWS climb of June 21st. If spots are unfilled others can request permission after June 1st.

We will climb a couple of routes at the Sunshine Vista Slab, one of which is a 2 pitch climb that will give students the opportunity to practice multi-pitch sequence as a follower including belaying a leader, cleaning an anchor and protection (quick-draws only in this case) and also to rappel.

Students: Make sure you bring:

  • The Ten Essentials
  • Harness
  • Helmet
  • Rockshoes
  • Belay Device
  • Autoblock
  • Personal Anchor
  • Some slings and carabiners
  • Water and snacks 
  • Backpack to carry all of the above

Leaders also please bring:

  • Ropes (3 x 60 meters)
  • Alpine draws (e.g. 10 sewn runners with 20 wiregate carabiners)
  • Self-braking belay device like Black Diamond ATC Guide or Petzl Reverso
  • Anchor material
