Meet at Sunnyside Beach Park in Steilacoom with enough time to launch by 2pm.

The website for the park lists it as “temporarily open”. The parking fee has doubled to $10. However, the last time I was there, the pay box was missing. Bring wheels or arrange to share. There is a restroom at the park.

We will be on the water for 2-3 hours. Expect to get wet and dress for immersion. Helmets required.

We will rendezvous with first responders in the fetch between Steilacoom and Toliva Shoal. Participants should consider in what types of emergencies kayakers would call for aid. We will do several drills/scenarios. Participants will have the opportunity to practice summoning rescuers via marine VHF radio. Drysuits and helmets required.
