Hammersley Inlet

Sea Kayak - Hammersley Inlet

We will plan to catch the end of the am Ebb at Walker Park and ride to Hope island, hoping to catch the Squaxin reef at low point. Then we'll catch the flood back to Walker Park. This can be windy and if there is wind one should plan to do a little work getting back to Walker Park.

  • Sea Kayak II
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 12.0 nm
  • Maximum Wind: 15 kts
  • Maximum Waves: 1 ft
  • Maximum Currents: 2.5 kts

We will meet at Walker Park in Shelton bright and early at 0730 for planned launch around 0800. Be aware there is a carry to the beach at the start and end.

There is a separate parking area a little closer to the beach down a dirt road past the park managers trailer. As of 2018 the bathrooms were closed and there was a port a potty there. Bring immersion clothing with at minimum and all other essential items.
