This activity is focused primarily for those who lead trips that involve rock gardening. We will spend the entire day 1) assessing features for safety, 2) learning how to safely take a group into rock features, 3) performing a LOT of rescues. 

Meet at Freshwater Bay Boat Launch at 8:30 am. We will be off the water in the early evening.

Required Equipment

These eight essentials plus The Ten Essentials are required on all sea kayaking trips.  All but the whistle and clothing should be provided with any kayak rental.

  1. Floatation in both ends of the kayak
  2. U.S. Coast Guard approved Personal Flotation Device (PFD)
  3. Throw rope
  4. Paddle
  5. Spray skirt
  6. Bilge pump with floatation
  7. Self-rescue paddle float
  8. Waterproof whistle
  9. Warm clothing under drysuit
