It is HIGHLY recommended to find lodging in the area the weekend of this snowshoe trip, as the drive to the Methow is many hours in duration. Make a weekend out of it!
From Hwy 20 a few miles east of Loup Loup Pass, we will head up the Buck Mountain Road, eventually intersecting a likely groomed snowmobile route and following that for a couple of miles. They head back west, and the quieter portion of our trip begins, generally following along a ridge to get to the Buck Mountain lookout. We will make time to enjoy the views and see what animal tracks we can find.
Please note that the distance noted is approximate, as different sources offer different mileages, from 8-11. Let's see what we find! As with all winter activities, weather and avalanche conditions may necessitate a change of destination. Any alternate would be located somewhere in the Methow Valley.
