Fly to Kathmandu, Nepal on Oct 8-10, tour Kathmandu, fly to Lukla Oct 12. Trek to Everest Basecamp and Kala Patar viewpoint Oct 12-21. Trek back to Lukla Oct 21-24, fly back to Kathmandu Oct 25, fly back to the US departing Oct 27 and arriving Oct 28.

Time of Year: October is a good time of year to visit the Khumbu because there is usually excellent weather for views and photography.
Lodging: We will stay in hotels in Kathmandu and lodges in the Khumbu, double occupancy.
Food: Most meals are provided. They are a nutritious variety of Himalayan and Western cuisine. In Kathmandu, some meals are on your own to give you the freedom to explore the delicious cuisines of Asia.
Leader’s Experience: Craig Miller has led 15 different safe and successful Himalayan treks and climbs for The Mountaineers (craigfmiller@comcast.net).
Participant Requirements: Everyone will need excellent cardiovascular fitness, endurance, balance, and confidence ascending and descending unstable rocky terrain.
Trip Price: $3,000, including airport transfers, Kathmandu hotels, buses, two Nepal airline flights, Trekker Information Management System card, Sagarmatha National Park permit, guide, sherpas, porters, food, lodges, Nepali cultural dinner, Mountaineers admin expense, and a portion of leader cost. Excludes international airfare (about $1,400), medical immunizations, rescue insurance (about $75), valid passport, Nepal visa (easy purchase in Kathmandu when you arrive for $40), some meals, personal items, and gratuities.
Registration Instructions: Please answer the application questions and email them to the leader. After the leader’s approval, please telephone The Mountaineers at 206-521-6001; give them your credit card number, and $1,000 deposit. Balance due June 1.
Cancellation Policy: If you cancel because of an emergency, you may receive a refund less expenses incurred and a $100 administrative fee.
Required Equipment
After your deposit is received, the leader will send out a series of letters to help participants prepare for a successful outing, including recommended gear, maps, guidebooks and other information.
