This trip will require excellent fitness, with an overnight pack. It will be a lot of trail time and  long distances. Tentative schedule below.

  • Friday 7/27/2018: Leave Olympia in the evening and camp close to trailhead or at trailhead.
  • Saturday 7/28/2018: Hike into La Bohn Lakes and make camp. ~11 miles, ~4,700 of gain.
  • Sunday 7/29/2018: Climb Hinman and go back to camp. ~2 miles round trip and ~1,600 of gain. Break camp and head out the ~11 miles. 

We may also have a backup trip to this if  weather is not good. This is TBD.

  • Mountain boots that can accept crampons (not hiking boots)
  • Crampons
  • An ice axe (not technical ice tools)
  • A sleeping bag rated to +20 degrees or colder
  • A sleeping pad
  • A back pack (40 to 60 liters)
  • Webbing and accessory cords
  • 6 non-locking carabiners
  • 2 locking carabiners
  • 1 Large pear-shaped carabiner
  • Belay device
  • Climbing harness
  • Helmet
  • Rescue pulley
  • Rescue prusiks
  • Fleece or puffy jacket
  • Rain jacket and full-zip rain pants
  • Warm waterproof gloves or mittens
  • Bug Spray

Expect to carry group gear.
