Day Hike - West Tiger Mountain 1 & 2

Early Season Conditioning Hike to West Tigers 2 and then 1 for hopefully great views of the Puget Sound, Olympics, and Cascades

  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 8.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 2,800 ft
  • High Point Elevation: 2,948 ft
  • Pace: At least 2 mph

9am, I-90 exit 20 at gated road at intersection of High Point Way and 79th St. There is a Discover Pass sign posted on the gate but do not know if you need a Discover Pass to park across the intersection from the gate along 79th St.

We will do a counter-clockwise loop. We will cross the new incredible steel Murat's Bridge and hike up the K3 Trail to West Tiger 2. We will then follow the road to Hiker's Hut on West Tiger 1 for a great view of Mt. Rainier and the Olympics. We will continue up the road over and past the summit and to another big viewpoint of: The Olympics, Puget Sound, Seattle, Bellevue, Lake Washington and Sammamish, Mt. Baker and the Cascades to Mt. Si. From there we will have to descend off-trail through a brushy clear-cut to get back onto the trail we need to take down, going down the WT1 and TMT Trails to finish the loop.

Please be able to hike at least 2 mph uphill and up to 3 mph downhill.
