Day Hike - Tronsen Ridge

16 miles (9.5 mile option if you have a very rugged vehicle) of flowers, birds, pollinators, and views in all directions from Tronsen Ridge.

  • Strenuous
  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 16.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 3,600 ft
  • High Point Elevation: 5,404 ft
  • Pace: 2.25 MPH average (the road portion is a very fast surface)

8:00 AM hwy 97 at the turnoff to 5 mile road (it is 5 miles past Blewett Pass), https://goo.gl/maps/mN7wFrYzSv85fNPz8

There are 3 options for parking: There are 2 or 3 spots 50 yards up 5 Mile Rd that are reachable by a low-clearance car, high-clearance vehicles have spots a little bit further up the road, park on hwy 97 near the intersection, or there is an expanded shoulder for parking 150 yards down/north the road.

1 carpooling option is east sunset way trailhead in Issaquah at 6:15, the google maps link https://goo.gl/maps/wHcf4qPVzz4NMRW47     I need at least 1 person to be willing to pick me up there, I need a ride

If you have a very rugged vehicle, very high clearance & 4 wheel drive, you could cut the hike to 9.5 miles. Meet us at the top of 5 mile road at 9:30. Let me know that you are going to do this. Here is a description from a WTA trip report, "I drove in on Five Mile Road and put my jeep wrangler into 4WD about a mile or so in. There were some puddles and lots of deep tire ruts. No downed trees, but there's a decent amount of overgrowth so you'll probably get some scratches on your car. I took it slow and had no issue!"
