Day Hike - Tronsen Ridge

10.5 miles, 2600', Magnet Creek (ridge), Tronsen Ridge, 5 Mile Creek, and 1.7 miles along HWY 97. Vaccination badge or photographic proof of vaccination is required for this trip.

  • Strenuous
  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 10.5 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 2,600 ft
  • High Point Elevation: 4,517 ft
  • Pace: 2.00 MPH average moving speed

8:30 AM hwy 97 at the turnoff to 5 mile creek road, https://goo.gl/maps/mN7wFrYzSv85fNPz8

There are 3 options for parking: There are 2 or 3 spots 50 yards up 5 Mile Rd that are reachable by a low-clearance car, high-clearance vehicles have spots a little bit further up the road, park on hwy 97 near the intersection, or there is an expanded shoulder for parking 150 yards down/north the road.

One suggestion for carpooling is Preston Park n Ride (exit 22 on I-90) at 7:00 AM.

There could be ticks. As noted above, we will be walking on the edge of the shoulder of HWY 97 for the first 1.7 miles of the hike. There is plenty of room and we will walk against traffic.
