Day Hike - Tiger Mountain Lowlands

Enjoy a 5.5 mile half day loop hike with 1,000ft gain on trails along the mainly shaded lower slopes below West Tiger 3 that takes in mountain caves, a beautiful small lake and a very large tree. Priority before general registration opens on July 29 will be given to those who signed up for the July 9 trip on the same trails that had to be cancelled.

  • Easy
  • Mileage: 4.75
  • Elevation Gain: 775 ft
  • Pace: 2 mph average moving speed

8:30 am Tradition Lake Interpretive Shelter close by High Point Trailhead, I-90 exit 20.

Details to find this location will be emailed to participants after registration closes on Aug. 11.

PLEASE NOTE: Anyone who was registered for the July 9, 2021 trip on the same trails at the time I had to cancel due to an injury may email me at ctrails@comcast.net to ask to be added to the roster  not later than July 28. This is prior to general registration opening on July 29 at 7:00am. From that time anyone can register.

TRIP DETAILS: Starting from the High Point Interpretative Shelter at 500ft we will take the Nook Trail south up to the Talus Rock Trail at 1,100ft. We will see some interesting rocks and caves close by before taking the Section Line and Bonneville Trails back down to the west and north. We will return to the interpretive Shelter by the Wetlands Trail passing pretty Round Lake, followed by the Big Tree and Swamp Trails to complete our 5.5 mile half day hike.

I plan that we will hike at a moderate average moving speed of 2mph. We will have several short stops along the way for snacks and water.

We will comply with all State and Mountaineers COVID 19 precautions that apply on the date of this trip.

Participants who are not fully vaccinated (Pfizer & Moderna two shots + 2 weeks or J&J one shot + 2 weeks) are expected to wear a mask when we meetup and on the trail when it’s not possible to keep a minimum of 6 ft. distance from others. Please do not register if you are unwilling to meet this expectation.

Full trip details will be emailed once registration closes at 5pm on Aug. 11. In the interim, please email the leader with any questions: ctrails@comcast.net
