Day Hike - Thorp Lake & Lookout

A loop, a lake and a lookout! Excellent views from the fire lookout cabin and a side trip to Thorp Lake.

  • Moderate
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 9.5 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 2,700 ft
  • High Point Elevation: 5,854 ft
  • Pace: moderate 2.5mph

9:30 am at the trailhead, or 7am at East Gate Park and Ride in Issaquah.

Start at the Thorp Creek / Thorp Mountain trailhead, hike a clockwise loop (Thorp Creek - Thorp Mountain - Kachess Ridge - No Name Ridge - Little Joe Lake - Return to Trailhead).

We'll hike at a moderate/steady pace. With breaks for photo ops accordingly! We'll also stop for a short lunch.

Most of the elevation gain is in the first 3 miles (some steep sections). The rest of the trail rolls along a ridge, then gradually looses elevation as we return to the trailhead.

Parts of the trail may be slightly overgrown - long pants might be nice.

Optional side trip to Thorp Lake.
