Granite Creek Trail

Trip

Day Hike - Thompson Lake

Great hike but challenging with a great lake as a reward.

  • Moderate
  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 12.5 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 4,100 ft
  • Pace: 2.0 mph
Meet at the  Granite Creek Trailhead at 7:30 and follow the Granite Creek trail for approximately 4 miles until you get to the cutoff for Thompson Lake.   Additional information including carpool will be sent after registration closes.

The trail should be snow-free by then. Updated trail conditions will be sent out via Hello Hiker email. This trail may include creeks crossing. The last part of the hike is a steep descent to the lake with roots and rocks that may be slippery.    Please bring poles.

I am conditioning for bigger summer hikes and backpack trips. So I will be carrying a weighted pack.

If you have not done similar elevation or mileage, you may want to skip this one as we will be hiking at an ongoing pace of 2 mph.
