This is not your typical hike as we'll be spending the majority of it (4.6mi out of 5.3mi) in an old railroad tunnel. It makes for a unique experience.
Now, why would this hike be planned for the middle of the day, especially the hottest part of it? It's simple, the tunnel has natural A/C (it's cold so a jacket is recommended) and the darkness of the tunnel contrasts nicely against the brightness of the afternoon sun.
Prior to signing up for this hike, please take into account the following (many of these are repeated for emphasis):
- Please take note of the
- target audience
- pace listed above
- A headlamp and jacket are required as it is very dark and gets reasonably cold in the tunnel
- (Encouraged) Reflective material since there are a number of cyclists
- "Hello Hiker" e-mail sent out soon after registration closes (check your "spam" folder)
Leader Permission
In order to ensure that everyone that registers is adequately prepared and meets the eligibility criteria, please answer the following questions.
- Are you in the target audience (20-30 somethings) for the activity?
- Did you read the full trip details?
If you answered yes to both of these, then you have implicit permission to register for the activity. Otherwise, you can reach out to me before registering.
I may follow up via email for any registration to request additional information.
