Day Hike - Rock Creek Falls

Our destination will be Snow Lake from the backdoor. Hike along the Middlefork river and then up a valley containing one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the state. This hike requires microspikes and poles as there may be a bit of snow near the top. 13 miles, with 3,500 ft of gain.

  • Mileage: 12.6 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 3,500 ft
  • Pace: 2.0 - 2.5 mph

Meet at North Bend Safeway at 7:00 AM and we'll carpool down the Middlefork from there. To access the trailhead we'll need to drive down the unpaved section of the Middlefork out to Dingford Creek. My Crosstrek can make it just fine, and we'll need at least one more volunteer to drive. More specifics in pre-trip email.

This is a somewhat long hike, but starts out flat for the first 2.5 miles along the Middlefork trail. Once we turn up the Rock Creek Trail, the hike gets progressively harder. We won't go fast, but we will maintain a moderate, steady pace so we can get back at a decent time. When requesting leader’s permission, please let me know what hikes you’ve done lately with similar distance and elevation gain.

Trip is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if the forecast is awful.
