Day Hike - Porter Trail

Summer solstice hike on a long trail in the Capitol State Forest. Leader's permission required.

  • Moderate
  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 18.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 2,200 ft
  • Pace: 1.7-2.0 mph

Meeting info will be emailed to participants.

There are flowers and trees and wildlife along this trail as it meanders through the forest. The trail is described in Urban Hikes Olympia. It is not technically difficult but it is a long trail.  There are several creek crossings, so we can replenish our water supply. We will stop to eat our trail lunch somewhere along the trail. It will be a one way hike, so we will need cars at both ends of the trail.  I will drive one car, so I will need another driver. A discover pass is needed for parking.  I will email participants further details about the activity when we get closer to the start date.
