Day Hike - Pete Lake

Nice early fall hike to Pete Lake, following a gentle forest trail along the Cooper River.

  • Moderate
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 9.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 400 ft

We will meet  at 8:00 am at the North Bend Safeway parking lot close to the tall Safeway/O'Reilly Auto Parts/Chase Bank sign in the parking lot. It's close to I-90 exit 31.

There will be the option of either consolidating cars going to the trailhead or driving yourself.  A Northwest Forest Pass  will be needed for those driving to the trailhead

From Seattle, drive east on I-90 and take exit 80 (Roslyn/Salmon la Sac). Turn left (north) on WA-903/Salmon la Sac Road and continue 16.8 miles through Roslyn and past Cle Elum Lake. Turn left (west) on FR-46 (signed for FR 4600) and follow 4.7 miles. Turn right on FR-4616 and continue 1 mile to the trailhead.

Due to the limitations on roster size, please don't register for the hike unless you are committed to showing up, and traveling both to and from the lake with the group.

Easy/moderate 9 mile hike, but will go at a moderate pace with plenty of rest breaks as needed.  Bring lunch and plenty of water and sturdy hiking shoes. Trekking poles will be helpful.  May swim at lake if weather is good.

For safety we will all hike as a group so please assess before hand whether this distance/elevation gain/pace will suit you before registering.

This trip is subject to the guidelines for a Phase 2 county.

All participants will be required to have a face covering ready to pull up at the trailhead, and will be asked to be familiar with and follow the Mountaineers Covid-19 guidelines for phase 2 on this trip.

For the group's safety, every participant is asked to commit to conservative covid behavior  prior to the trip
