Day Hike - Pacific Crest Trail: Snoqualmie Pass to Windy Pass

A 12-mile round trip hike with 2,600 feet of elevation gain that explores a lightly used but scenic section of the Pacific Crest Trail south from Snoqualmie Pass to Windy Pass. Hike offered as part of the PCT Challenge

  • Moderate/Strenuous
  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 12.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 2,600 ft

8:30 am, Preston Park and Ride, I-90 exit 22. Full details will be sent to participants 2 days prior to the trip

We will hike south on the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) from the Snoqualmie Pass south trailhead over the Summit West ski area and past Beaver Lake and Lodge Lake to the west. We then traverse a steep slope overlooking the deep canyon of the South Fork Snoqualmie River. About 3 miles from the trailhead the trail leaves the old road and descends a talus slope and crosses Rockdale Creek. After a short ascent the trail climbs and enters the picturesque Ollalie Meadows with Radio Mountain to the east. After a short ascent beyond the meadow we reach Windy Pass, our destination and high point at 3,800 ft.

We will return by the same route enabling participants registered for the PCT to clock up 6 miles on the trail.  This hike will be led at a moderate pace. A good standard of fitness and stamina is required in view of the 12 miles round trip distance and 2,600 elevation gain.
