Day Hike - Dog Mountain Loop (Columbia River)

Destination changed from Mount Defiance due to hot weather conditions.

  • Strenuous
  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 8.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 2,800 ft
  • Pace: Moderate, will vary

Trailhead early morning.  It is a long 3+ hour drive, so I strongly suggest car camping somewhere along the way the night before. Car camping might be available at the Viento State Park, Oregon.

IMPORTANT: there is a lot of poison oak along the trail, as well as ticks and the possibility of rattlesnakes - take that into consideration and prepare for it if you want to go. If rain is forecast, I will either cancel or change the destination.

Additional information will be emailed to participants.
