This is a lovely trail and a great way to start the new year.  Note that winter conditions, often flooding, may require a re-route or reschedule.  Ten essential are required (especially rain gear!), NO COTTON CLOTHING, waterproof boots, trekking poles and possibly microspikes may be required.

we will stay together as a group and hike at the pace of the slowest person.
