Lake Serene

Day Hike - Lake Serene

Join me for a beautiful hike to Bridal Veil Falls and Lake Serene.

  • Moderate/Strenuous
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 7.2 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 1,920 ft
  • Pace: 1.5-2.0 mph

We will start our hike at the Lake Serene Trailhead at 8:30. (NOTE NEW START TIME!) A Northwest Forest Pass or National Park Pass is required to park. We can determine if we wish to meet to carpool once participants have signed up.

From Everett, follow Highway 2 east to the small town of Gold Bar. Continue on Highway 2 for seven more miles. Just as the road curves left to reveal a large bridge over the Skykomish River, turn right onto Mount Index Road. Proceed on this dirt road a quarter mile. Turn right again, following the sign to Lake Serene Trail 1068 and the parking lot 500 feet ahead.

This is not an easy hike, but the rewards are high. We will go at a moderate pace while taking several “beauty breaks” to enjoy our surroundings. Participants must be in good physical condition and capable of a 1.5-2.0 mph pace. You should have experience completing hikes or backpacks of similar length and elevation.

We will stop first to see Bridal Veil Falls, then hike to Lake Serene, where we will lunch at Lunch Rock. Please read the description on WTA:

Trekking poles may be helpful. If there is  snow on the trail, traction devices may be required, but we’ll see what the condition of the trail is closer to the hike.
