Day Hike - Big Creek

Big Creek Loop up to the Bench just past the lower Ellinor trailhead intersection. We’ll plan to keep a steady pace but enjoy the sights too. This is a mentored hike leader trip for Ron by Carolyn. Proof of vaccination required.

  • Moderate
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 8.2 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 2,300 ft
  • High Point Elevation: 3,000 ft
  • Pace: 2 mph

Meet at the Big Creek Trailhead at 9:15 am., ready to walk by 8:30 am. Don’t forget your northwest forest pass or America the Beautiful pass to hang in your car.

Plan on rainy conditions. Wear appropriate clothing and shoes.  This trip is open to all but keep in mind it will gain and lose about 2250’ in about 8 miles. Unless you have the vaccine badge, please send Ron at explorer.ron@gmail.com. Proof of vaccination beforehand or bring proof with you. We will be able to appreciate all the awesome work recently completed by the trail crews. There were packed snow/icy spots a couple weeks ago on the Big Creek Trail, and light snow icy spots up past the lookout, so micro spikes hiking poles are suggested. But we'll be sure to hike to the groups comfort level.
