Day Hike - Aurora Ridge

Aurora Creek Trail - a little-known hike in the Western Olympic/Lake Crescent area.

  • Strenuous
  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 7.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 3,670 ft
  • Pace: 1,000ft/hr

10am.

Depending on how many people and cars, we will either meet at Lake Crescent Lodge parking lot or at the TH off Sol Duc Hotsprings Rd.

We'll be doing this challenging day hike that may be a snowshoe by mid-December: https://www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes/aurora-creek

Because of reduced ferry schedules, we'll be starting a little later than normal. People coming from Seattle may still have to leave very early. We're staying Saturday night at Lake Crescent Lodge - feel free to join us if time/money allow. Because of the later start, please have extra batteries for your headlamps.

Be comfortable with steep snow travel, bring trekking poles, snowshoes, microspikes and warm clothing. If presented with avalanche danger early on, we will turn around and do Storm King or another hike in the area.

We've never done this hike before, so it will be exploratory for all of us!
