Participants who sign up must also obtain an Olympic Natl Park Back country camping permit from Recreation.gov. $8.00 fee + $4.00 dollar processing fee ($12.00 total). NOTE: It was suggested by a Park ranger to wait until Aug. 1 to obtain a permit as there is not a lot of 'traffic' on this route.
Bear canister required.
We will meet at the Park n Ride, located just south of the interchange of I-5 (exit 127) and Hwy 512, entrance off of South Tacoma Way between McDonald's and Taco Time.
A Long drive to the Bogacheil River trailhead in Olympic National Park. The Bogacheil river is the northern most rain forest hike on the western side of the Olympics.
We may stop along the way for gasoline and snacks? The trailhead is just south of Forks, WA. on Hwy 101. There may also likely be a stop on the way back.
