Ancient Lake

Trip

Backpack - Ancient Lake

Join me for an easy backpack to the geologically amazing Ancient Lakes. This will be an easy backpack with an interesting day hike.

  • *Varies*
  • Easy
  • Mileage: 5.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 200 ft
  • Pace: Pace of the group

We’ll meet at the Preston Park and Ride in Issaquah by 7:30 a.m. More details to come.

Ancient Lake is just a gem with waterfalls (weather allowing), basalt columns, a river, multiple lakes, and a few rattlesnakes thrown to keep things interesting. 😀 If the waterfall is flowing next to the late, we may choose to take a 4-mile round trip day hike to see it. (To get all the way involves a small scramble.) Or we may choose to take an easier but longer route to see the river. Or maybe we’ll head over the rocks to see Dusty Lake. We’ll decide as a group what we’re up to.

We’ll make a stop at the Gingko Petrified  Forest along the way if there is time. https://www.parks.wa.gov/288/Ginkgo-Petrified-Forest

We’ll leave on Sunday morning after a leisurely breakfast.

Please note: The monthly average at this time in June is in the 70s, but I’ll keep an eye on the weather.  Thunderstorms or high heat will cancel this trip.
