Backcountry Trail Run - Monte Cristo, Glacier Basin, Silver Lake & Twin Lakes

Moderatly Paced Trail run to Monte Cristo, Silver Lake, and Twin Lakes.

  • Strenuous
  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 18.25 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 4,000 ft
  • High Point Elevation: 5,200 ft
  • Pace: 3-4 MPH Overall Moving Pace

Meet at the Southeast Corner Ash Way Park and ride at 6:00AM.  We will consolidate and arrange carpools before heading to the trailhead.  There is limited parking at the trailhead and it is a fairly popular hiking/scrambling destination.

Alternately meet at the Barlow Pass Trailhead at 7:15 AM

We will be fast hiking the steep elevation, and running the flats and downhills.  Chill pace run with time to take a plunge in the lakes.  All paces welcome on this run as long as you have done similar distances/elevation recently. If you have any concerns about pacing please send me an email.

The first four miles of the run are relatively flat along a gravel trail/roadway to Monte Cristo.  After Monte Cristo we will ascend up switchbacks to Silver Lake. We will take an extended break at Silver Lake before we proceed to the Twin Lakes.
