Alpine Scramble - Goat Island Mountain

Beautiful ridge walk high above the White River and Summerland. Not a short route but the views are worth it. Please read my notes.

  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 13.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 4,000 ft
  • Pace: Moderate

Enumclaw Ranger station Hwy 410 at 0630; we'll depart by 0645.  Please get coffee/use bathrooms ahead of time at Safeway or elsewhere.

Planning a counterclockwise loop starting at Summerland TH; then almost immediately will turn north onto the Wonderland to ascend the ENE ridge of Goat Island Mtn.  Follow ridge to saddle SW of Point 6714 and look for best terrain to descend; The area below is rocky and loose and will be slow travel.  Cross Fryingpan creek and secondary smaller creek then ascend to meadows near Summerland where we will pick up the trail to walk out. This is will be a pretty long day as we will be taking several breaks and will have some time for gawking.

If the weather if poor, we will find an alternate location in the Sunrise area  or postpone depending on the group's preference.

Leader will be out without cell or email from Aug 8-13.  Please phone with any questions once I am back 425 208 2165 or contact co-leader.
