After hiking the trail to Owyhigh Lakes (from the White River Road) we will descend a bit further before leaving the trail at ~5200’ to travel in a southeasterly direction. An ascending traverse will allow us to cross the ridge hosting Point 5835 (at an elevation of ~5400’) before descending to cross Needle Creek at ~4500’. From there we will travel cross country (ostensibly through some gorgeous meadows) to pass Lake 4928 on our way to the summit of Double Peak. We will return to the cars via the same route. Should be an interesting day on this 14 mile (round trip, half of it cross country) and ~5400’ elevation gain trip.
