Alpine Scramble - Chinook & Crystal Peaks

One-way scramble from Chinook Pass to Chinook Peak, Crystal Peak, then down to Crystal Lakes trail head.

Martin Way Park-n-Ride in Lacey at 6:00am.

We'll leave a car at the Crystal Lakes trail head and start our scramble at the top of Cayuse Pass. We'll walk the road partway then cut cross country to Chinook Pass, which will be closed. Then we'll follow the PCT most of the way to Sheep lake before leaving the trail to ascend a gully that gets us on the south ridge of Chinook. After summitting we'll descend a bit and contour (read: side-hilling) over to Crystal Peak then down the Crystal Lakes trail to the car we left there.
