Alpine Scramble - Breccia Peak

Strenuous scramble on Mountain Loop Highway. Despite a low snow year, I’m cautiously optimistic that there will still be sufficient snow to qualify as a snow scramble. Priority registration to scrambling students who need a snow scramble to graduate through May 5.

  • Strenuous 4, Technical 2
  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 12.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 4,600 ft
  • Pace: 1,000 ft/hr

Lost Creek Ridge Trailhead at 8am

It will be a long day with a moderate pace of 1,000 ft/hr. We’ll take 3-5 minute breaks every hour or so for food/water/layer changes.

We will travel as a group, and everyone will be expected to participate in navigation and decision making.

Priority for scrambling students who need a snow scramble to graduate until May 5. Then open to all scramblers.

The trip will go regardless of whether or not there's snow. A trip report from June 2016 (another low snow year) noted snow at 5,400ft. I'll keep an eye on conditions and update the group accordingly.

Permission is required for conditioning. Please share recent training in your permission request (I’d like to see multiple hikes over 3k and at least one with 4k of gain this season).
